Realistic wait time for a 15510st
Post Body

Visited my AP boutique back in November. Had a wonderful 2 hour long chat with the SA as 2 fellow watch nerds. Asked me a bunch of questions about my other hobbies (guitar) and said stuff like AP is big on music as one of its artistic columns they support.

Did not expect to be told that a 15510st could be had as a "first watch/purchase", albeit only the black, grey and white dials. Also told me the other watches available as a first purchase are the 41 chrono in black/silver and the 37mm 15550st in grey.

Anyone have a similar first boutique visit experience, and if so, what's the realistic wait time for a 15510st given the context? SA mentioned about a year, is he for real or is he really just gonna make me wait long enough to offer to purchase a ROO or code.

Thank you and much appreciated.

Yeah so all anecdotal. Me and friends of mine have had the opposite first hand experience with AP - they didn’t care what watch you walked in wearing. It’s all about your spend with them

Is this all anecdotal? There are plenty on here and other forums that have showed up to the AP boutique with very limited APs they bought grey, platinum Daytonas, nautilus, RMs, etc and still haven’t gotten a Royal oak. I don’t think wearing Gucci/lv or talking about the Ferrari club is going to do much (i actually think it could come off as ostentatious/obnoxious to an SA). SAs now ask for your profession, social media, etc. — they aren’t just looking for rich (there is plenty of money out there to buy their watches) they want their watches on the right wrists (celebs, athletes, top notch business people, etc).

While there are no guarantees, what seems to be the most straightforward path to a RO is to buy a CODE or Offshore first. Plenty of stories of folks who had no luck getting a RO as first piece but once they bought a code or offshore the RO was allocated to them shortly thereafter.
