Every time I record it comes out super quiet. Some one told me to get a cloud lifter (pre amp?). Shouldn’t it record at a more normal volume? My set up is pretty simple. MacBook, Harbinger mixer, Shure SM58 mic. The audio doesn’t even register on the mixer. It’s going through but I have to amplify the sound in editing. I can’t hear myself through headphones.
One odd thing is I got the mixer I’m using now to hopefully fix that problem. It didn’t. I also wanted more channels and more than one XLR input. Just so both mics used the same type of input. The old setup was a Behringer mixer and we could hear through the headphones.
I don’t necessarily want to buy anything else right now but I would really like the volume to record at a more normal level.
