I have seen that other people are looking for this functionality. What people are looking for is the equivalent of Ripple Delete in Premiere Pro or other video NLE software.
I'm surprised Audacity doesn't have something similar. Truncate Silence is not the answer, it is not about manipulating the waveform, it is only about deleting empty space within the timeline to butt two clips together instead of manually dragging them.
When you right mouse click Ripple Delete in video software the program snaps the clip further down the timeline to join right up against the other, thus removing the empty space.
