“House sales in Auckland continue to plummet, and after a 10.7% fall in July, they are down 50.5% on the same time last year, new Barfoot & Thompson figures show.
The city’s largest real estate agency had just 611 sales last month, which was down 12% on the previous three months’ average of 694.
It was the lowest number of sales the agency had made in the month of June in the past 22 years, Barfoot & Thompson managing director Peter Thompson said.
In contrast, when the market was booming in July last year there were 1235 sales. “
