Seemingly large inconsistency in how eating works

Season 4 [NO MANGA SPOILERS/HINTS!]

I think this was earlier than season 4 but don't remember so just picked the highest tag:

So Eren eats his dad who is a special titan, and after inheriting powers, stays as Eren in human form, he does not appear as his dad.
Armin, as another example, eats Bertholdt, and after inheriting his powers, stays as Armin in human form, he does not appear as Bertholdt.
Yet when some random no-named titan eats Eren, after inheriting his powers, he still appears as EREN, not as whatever random no-named human that titan who ate him used to be...

How does this make any sense? It seems he just inexplicably broke the rules.
