Throwing another upcoming beer event out there, didn't see it on the calendar unless I missed it. There's a huge garden in Ball Ground, GA called Gibbs Gardens (~250-300 acres, for comparison Atlanta Botanical Garden is 30ish), and they're having their first hopefully-annual beerfest this weekend on Saturday.
I'm not sure the specific beers per brewery – likely staples but can't be sure – but was somewhat surprised to see a couple names in the list that stood out for a first-time beer event in a relatively small town:
- Beer: Sweetwater, Atlanta Brewing Co, Scofflaw, Three Taverns, Gate City, Pretoria Fields, Service, Sam Adams, Eventide, Reformation, Arches, Orpheus, Grumpy Old Men, Dry County, Southbound, Abita, Creature Comforts, New Realm, Steady Hand
- Cider/Mead: BeeCraft Mead Co, Treehorn, Angry Orchard, Blake's Hard Cider
- Wine: Chateau Meichtry
- No tokens or anything, this is an "as much as you want within reason" kind of event.
Usual extras as well – a band (Loose Shoes Band, they're pretty good), food trucks (Taco Bout It, Pine Street Meats, Bratzeit, and the garden's own cafe), vendors (honey, olive oil, various nature groups, hot air balloon, maybe more?).
Tickets are $35 if you happen to be a member already, $45 at the gate day of – for non-members they're $45 now, $55 at the gate. Online ticketing closes tomorrow (Friday) at midnight, Saturday you can only get them at the gate. Consider this includes garden admission, which is $20 alone normally and can easily kill some hours wandering around even without beer, so it's really pretty cheap all considered compared to "hey pay to get into this place that's free anyway"-type events, ha.
VIP already sold out ("special brews," etc), sorry – didn't occur to me to post earlier, whoops.
Garden is also super pretty, colors are starting to change, waterlilies/wildflowers/japanese maples are the stars now, good for dates, you can buy some of their flowers to take home, all that!
My mom works here, say hey, ha.
Link to the event page, you can click around on the site for garden pics, it's nice
