Are most of the label designers local artists who just eventually get asked because a brewer might like their style? Are some of them "brewer's cousin who can draw", etc? Are some of them even made in-house?
With the labels themselves, do brewers often have an idea of what they want and give guidelines, or more just say "make me something cool" and go from there?

I have a day job in design, and make sites on the side already, but curious about any other sidework I could get into, and have been wondering. My design site is in disrepair at the moment (lovely hackers), just reaching out for some starter info at this point.
