This is probably going to get downvoted, maybe even removed, but it needs to be said.
I was going to meet up with a lady from here, who I won't name. After some back and forth, she decided to cancel after finding out that I was going to be driving almost an hour to meet her.
The reason wasn't gas prices, or kindness, or trying to prevent traffic.
She didn't want me to feel like I had the right to touch her after driving that far.
Ladies, Gentlemen, Others, we need to do better.
It does not matter what your gender is, what their gender is, how far you drive, how much you pay, or what has happened in the past. You do not EVER have the right to touch someone else without their express consent.
If they say no, you don't get to beg, plead, and coerce them into changing their minds. That no stands, and we all need to respect it.
I'm not going to lie and say this was my first thought. I went through all the emotions and pain that normally comes with a rejection. But then I realized, she wouldn't have thought this about me without reason.
She didn't just pull this out of her backside and decide to use it.
She, and probably every other woman, and likely more than a few of us who are not women, have experienced someone acting like this, and getting mad over the setting of reasonable boundaries.
As the post says, we need to do better.
