I was dropping my kids off at my wife’s work Thursday morning, speed walking past the front desk on my way out, when I glanced over at the TV. It was muted on CNN, but a banner took up half the screen saying “SUPREME COURT OVERTURNS ROE V WADE”.

I continued walking to my car, grinding my teeth in anger, shaking my head, a little overwhelmed with the magnitude of the shittyness.

I went to work, where I am completely surrounded by people who unironically show me “don’t you miss Trump yet” memes from their Facebook feed and read fucking Ayn Rand at their desks, occasionally pontificating about how profound she is. I grit my teeth and nod my head. What else can I do? I have to have a working relationship with these people, and I respect many of them, even if I think their political views are despicable and ignorant. It doesn’t help when they arrogantly deride libtards. But that’s the world I live in.

“At least I live in a state that has legally enshrined abortion as a right.” I say, attempting to comfort myself. But as the days wear on I remember how little the Cons actually respect state’s rights, and I shake my head at how fucking useless the Dems are. Not a single thing of substance has been accomplished in the last couple years, and it feels inevitable that the Cons will get congress back in November.

And that’s the most upsetting truth to come out of this saga. Democrats are so incomprehensibly useless and shit at politics, it fucking boggles my mind. Or maybe they did all this on purpose, creating a massive spectacle of token resistance and nothing more. It would be hard to argue otherwise.

Where were the fucking dems when the Supreme Court hijacked democracy and handed Bush his second term? How about that time when Obama had majorities in congress, and chose to use that power to implement a bunch of transparently shitty conservative solutions to healthcare? And then when the cons shit all over him for 6 years for implementing their own fucking ideas, did he say something? Did he call out their hypocrisy?

How bout when the Tea Party was bloviating about the national debt, did he publicly skewer their hypocrisy on spending and mock their fear mongering?

Or when they would not shut the fuck up about his birth certificate? I guess it was just not presidential to get in front of the camera with the banal piece of paper and mercilessly mock their open racism?

How about when all he had to do to get rid of the shitty Bush tax cuts on the rich was let them expire? Did he let them expire? Fuck no, they made them fucking permanent. In exchange for what, you ask? Not a goddamn thing.

Oh and remember that time Obama was obligated to appoint a new Supreme Court justice, and that big and scary McConnell just told him no? Did he get in front of a camera to ceaselessly lambast the hypocrisy and childishness of the entire conservative movement until they shut the fuck up and did their jobs? Nope, he flaccidly whined about it and just let it fucking happen.

How about when Trump was nominated. Did they mock his obvious pandering bullshit? Nope, they treated him with seriousness and engaged in his bad faith arguments.

And I’m not even going to go into the Trump years. There’s just too much and it’s just too painful.

The republicans are evil, no ifs ands or buts. But the fucking democrats are pathetic. Fuck you Joe, Hillary and Barack. This country deserves a better opposition to the evil that is currently regressing our society into the fucking 19th century. And you’re sucking up all the air in the political system with you useless bullshit and flaccid ideas. Get the fuck out of the way, if nothing else. Step down and shut the fuck up. Let better people handle it from here. Please. It’s probably already too late.
