I posted earlier about how my parents said I’d be “cursed with a curse” if I didn’t “give the lord his money”. Me and my Dad were on our way home from bible study and he asked me about a phone I’m going to pick up this weekend (I flip phones for profit).
He ask me the logistics of this deal like what phone is it how much am I paying and what do I expect in return. I told him it’s a XS Max I’m paying $400 and I can trade it in for $550 or sell it to a direct buyer for $510(I’m doing the latter). He says there’s probably easier ways to make $110 and I said yes, but this is about 30 minutes of work if that to make $110 legally.
He continues to say that he thinks it’s a waste of money and says I can’t be successful without paying my tithes. Then says I can’t be successful in life without paying the lord. That part was the worst because I feel like when I’m up and out of the house my parents are going to shame me for being an atheist. I feel like I should tell them after I graduate from OCS.
I don’t get why Christians can say that god provides and he’ll answer your prayers etc. I remember one time asking god for $1,000,000 in the next 24 hours. I didn’t get it. But apparently that’s not how prayer works? I thought it’s when you ask you should receive? My dad saying I won’t be successful without paying tithes is ludicrous, I don’t get why my parents are hell bent on trying to get me to give up my monitor. I think I need a counselor to talk to.
