My parents don’t know I’m an atheist and I haven’t been paying tithes since around September. My dad said that my money will be “cursed with a curse” and that I “won’t receive blessings on my money” also that it’s “the Lords money”.
Part of my Parents’ prayer at church is “this seed I sow is not a debt I owe...” but my Dad said to me yesterday “ son you haven’t been paying tithes. Your money will be cursed with a curse or you don’t pay the lord and as long as you’re in my house, you follow my rules and that includes paying tithes.” No, I didn’t pay tithes Sunday but I don’t know if I should just tell them I’m an atheist at this point because he has access to my savings account and I’d really like it if I could have all my money rather than him taking 10% each week “for the lord” .
EDIT: I’m 16, I can just up and go I’ll have to wait until 2021 for that. I’m not going to tell them I plan on waiting until I’m out the house and financially stable. For now I’m just going to keep quiet and avoid tithes as much as I can perhaps moving a good amount of my money into investments.
