The plot of the movie revolves around an alien who lands on earth and spends his time trying to figure out the different religions he comes across. India is a country deeply embroiled in religion and as you can imagine the main character gets into a lot of trouble with all kinds of different religious organizations. However, this is a comedy so all of the repercussions aren't as dire as they might be in the real world.
The film doesn't really question the existence of god so much as it questions the legitimacy of organized religion, but for a country like India I think this is a huge step. Of course there are still a lot of calls for the ban of the movie, but despite that it has become the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. Coming from India and from a very religious family, I have more or less given up on the older generation ever escaping the trappings of faith. However, it is nice to think that a younger generation might see movies like this and question religion themselves.
Just posting this here because I don't really have too many other people to share my thoughts on atheism related things with. If any of you are ever interested in watching a foreign film that might give some insight on the way religion operates in a country like India, I'd wholeheartedly recommend "Pk."
