This is one thing that really bothers me about theists. When I say I don't believe in deities, they ask me what do I believe in? What do I live for? But as I'm thinking about it, living for something. What the meaning of life is. But then I look at the way a believer would answer the question. Does the way they live make sense? Doing God's work. Bringing more souls to heaven. Is that really a great life? Just being a goody goody, feeling guilty about doing anything that feels good. We're not supposed to enjoy sex. Can't drink alcohol. Can't smoke. Can't enjoy life? If I were on my death bed, looking back at my life, would I be proud if that was the life I lived? It's boring. Unfulfilling. That's not what life is for, to avoid everything. What sense does it make for a god to put us here, in a world full of so many experiences, but doesn't want us to do any of it? While i can appreciate some of it in hindsight (porn and sex got me into trouble), it just doesn't make sense. Essentially, life is an experiment or a test? This deity put us here, put all these things out there to trip us up, then gets pissed that we enjoy it? If we live a boring life, we get to live in a magical place. If we live an exciting life, we burn in eternal fire/get tortured for eternity. I like my life better.
