So, I went skiing today and every time I’m in the mountains, the old Christian hymn “How Great Thou Art” starts playing in my head. For those of you who didn’t come from the faithy background, it’s about seeing all the beautiful, powerful, and wonderful things in the world, and being dumbstruck with awe for their creator, who happens to be the singer’s “savior, God.” I like the song, and its message, even if I don’t share belief in the target of the songwriter’s awe. I’m not sure where my awe and wonder are directed, but I definitely feel those things.
