I saw a documentary of Jeffrey Dahmer recently (not the Netflix series) and one of the question constantly brought up was “Was Dahmer born to kill?” And it got me thinking since being Pentecostal, I was always taught that God can change people. However, there are multiple times that Dahmer said he was “changed” but it was a just a ploy to keep committing his crimes. So I don’t believe God could change people because of how many times people have hidden behind religion and God while committing heinous acts.
I think from a young age, people can have an desire to kill but with parental guidance, some of them can overcome those desires. After a certain point, I don’t think people can change and they hit a point of no return. In the case of Dahmer, I feel like he was born to kill because no matter how much he tried to be good, it constantly led back to him taking another life. I think there are people that are sadly destined to be evil and even if there is a God like the one in the Bible that can change lives, I don’t think it would make a difference.
What do you guys think? Could someone like Jeffrey Dahmer or any other serial killer legitimately be born to kill?
