Are yall more of a born soldiers kinda army, or make your own?

I don't have a ton of experience (maybe 1 actual game and it was only shooting, no objectives). I'm thinking I want to take the expert bombardier and scout army traits so I can get early board control with sentinels and infantry if I'm first, or take reactionary cover if I'm second. Idk how actually good artillery is, but it sounds like so much fun.
