2
3 pairs of glasses, still no fix. Where to go from here?
Post Body

Long post, TL;DR at bottom. Just need to check I'm doing all the right things.

2 months ago I went to the opticians for an eye exam as for a few weeks I had slanted vision and partial loss of depth perception.

Ended up with the following:

L: 2 SPH -0.75 CYL AXIS 180

R: 1.25 SPH -0.75 CYL AXIS 175

Farsighted and minor astigmatism, knew this was the case in the past but never an actual issue for me.

Got some new glasses, wore them full time for first time in forever for maybe 3-4 days, frames were a bad size for my head, got them swapped.

2nd pair more comfortable, but my eyes were watering and straining real hard, went back after a week.

Retested, got the following:

L: 1.75 SPH -0.75 CYL AXIS 3

R: 1 SPH -0.75 CYL AXIS 175

Dropped to "adjust" as new to glasses in general, sensitive eyes apparently.

Been wearing these for close to a month now, I am at the point where I actively want to wear the glasses as they reduce my eyestrain, etc. But the world is still slanted and my depth perception is still off at close range.

I notice it the most in mirrors and at my computer monitor, it's impossible to look at the centre of either and it to look flat and straight. In mirrors I myself do not appear to be facing the darn thing, my body is facing left or right of the darn mirror apparently.

Current plan:

  • Got my GP to refer to ophthalmologist - awaiting appointment
  • See if contact lenses help as I will have the same vision constantly throughout the day (and might get rid of lens distortion)
  • Using eye drops when needed (1-3 times a day), using night time gel drops too

Current symptoms to summarise:

  • Slanted vision that is variable, e.g. video game on monitor is slanting left, but physical monitor appears to be slanting right as if my eyes are slanting different directions

  • Severe ghosting with car headlights, etc.

  • Saw white clouds behind white text on black background, family member confirmed they could not see them. I could tell there was slight ghosting

  • Partial loss of depth perception, can determine how far away something is but left and right side of objects are different distances

TL;DR 3 pairs of glasses, 2 different scripts, symptoms not resolved
