Bad Stories? Expecting too much?

Post Body
Lately, I’ve started playing Assassin's Creed. First, I played Valhalla, then Odyssey and now Origins. I find the settings beautiful, and I enjoy exploring the historical worlds.
However, I find the stories and characters incredibly poorly written and one-dimensional. I’m used to games like Uncharted or The Last of Us, where I was able to form a real connection and was highly interested in the story.
Am I expecting too much, or am I just playing the wrong entries?
