The game was way better than I expected for a 17 year old game. First of all, the graphics were fairly good. I expected some retro Laura Croft-type graphics. Second, I would have thought the game would crash more often than I experienced. Throughout my whole 100% playthrough, it only crashed 3 time. Finally, I loved the story. It wasn't drawn out too much and it kept to main the points for the most part.
Now, what irritated me the most was the repetitive gameplay. To me it felts like it was a constant fetch this info and kill the guy. The story/cutscenes definitely carried this game.
In terms of combat, I hate how you could only use certain ability if you were locked on to an enemy which made it hard to run away from a fight a split second if you want to. Also, I felt like some fights were almost rigged against me because for example, it's me vs 10 enemies and I can't land a single counter and then the same 1v10 and suddenly I can counter every single incoming attack.
I'm one of those gamers that feels like if I don't 100% a game then I didn't actually finish it and I can't move on to another game. For AC1, the finding all the flags was so time consuming and made me want to rip my hair out at times.
My final comment and question is about the story. The game states that Desmond was kidnapped by Abstergo and that he was an assassin, but it doesn't explain in depth what happened in his past was he actually an assassin. I guess my question is is there another or short movie that explain the details to prequel the game or is it all up to my imagination.
If anyone has any insight, please feel free to leave a comment.
