I find a lot of people saying AC2 is the perfect place to start with the series, and tbh I see the argument for it. AC2 laid the groundwork for pacing/progression in the series, and it's the earliest installment available for console players.
If you start from the Ezio Trilogy and play Revelations, there is literally NO weight to the ending, nor any of the Altair sections. Not only that, most of Altair's wisdom has zero meaning without understanding his growth in AC1, and Ezio's aspiration to be like him also makes little sense because only 30 minutes of playtime as Altair doesn't suffice to understand his character.
And, what is completely ignored for some reason is that a lot of AC2's plot relies on the knowledge of Altair and his discoveries with the Apple. Every piece of equipment upgraded, all the Codex pages, none of it truly makes sense without AC1 played. Along with that, things like gaining the Armor of Altair and Sword of Altair don't have any weight to them without played AC1.
Sure, the game is repetitive and there is definitely some pacing issues, but it's so short that I don't think it really matters. And if someone doesn't like AC1 for its gameplay at a first playthrough, they definitely won't like AC2 and onwards.
