Ubisoft is missing the heart of Assassins Creed

I’m a huge critic of the developers killing off Desmond at the end of Ezio’s saga.

I believe the heart of the AC story lies in reality with the modern day assassins continuing their ancient fight.

Obviously the action within each DNA sequence is important, but without this the franchise has missed the mark again and has poked holes in its original world building.

Desmond was the life and blood of the franchise. Idk if my opinion is controversial, but this criticism is coming from someone who grew up on these games playing them obsessively. Ezio and Altair are still my favs lol

I will say my gameplay has been inconsistent throughout the years. I stopped playing after Black Flag and picked back up at Origins (still haven’t fully finished) but I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts and takes.

I think it made the story more compelling and textured in terms of environment! It would’ve been so cool to traverse the game in modern times, with the same immersion as being in the animus. It also created higher stakes. I’m a huge advocate for story being a driving force rather than gameplay, good gameplay adds to the experience overall
