After seeing this used on a former post, I had to get one and try it it. Yes, it works! When blown up it cuts off my airways completely. To make it more challenging, I pulled the hose out of the end so it couldn't be deflated. I pushed myself to thrashing and shaking as I fumbled around to get the strap undone from behind my head. YOU could help make sure that it stays in for at least 5-7 minutes! With a partner the possibilities are endless. Pump it until I'm gasping, deflate for a quick breath then quickly pump it up again. Deflate enough to have laboured breathing and so on.
