Has anyone experienced feeling out of place when enjoying their special interests due to the people around them?

Post Body

To preface, Iโ€™m a fairly independent 21 year old who is actively involved in the record collecting and antique/vintage communities in my town, and am a part of a local group of pickers and resellers in my area along with my boyfriend.

However, sometimes when I go to events solo sometimes, I feel out of place, especially if there are very trendy peers there, or individuals around me with more disposable income than I have. As a result, I feel a disconnect and feel very foolish, even though I know about the items I source and look for, and do so ethically.

I really donโ€™t know why I feel this way, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same when engaging in their passion.
