I need advice on bringing in a roommate
Post Body

Hi all!

I am needing to get a roommate for financial reasons, and really need some advice. If this is the wrong place to ask, please direct me to where would be a good place.

I have been living on my own for a few months, and have finally gotten my apartment to where I want it. But, with living in a secluded community in Northern Ontario, the cost of living is much higher than it is in Southern Ontario. So, I have to bring in a roommate. They will have their own bedroom and use of the shared living room, bathroom, kitchen & laundry.

I've never had a roommate before outside of my family, so I have no idea what to expect, or what rules to lay out.

Here are my questions:

Do any of you have roommates? If so, what rules do you have in place? How do you deal with someone else living in your space? What did you do if your roommate was not the right fit for you, and you discovered that after they had moved in?

Any advice is welcome!
