I can't help but think of Silicon Valley at the turn of the century, the Corporate 50's, etc. And see how if you kept your head down and did what was expected or even went a little above and beyond you could do great. Now it seems like you are just another cog in the machine. Before people could respect you for what you could do. Now it is more "collaborative" and less super star oriented. Now social skills are important and being a "team player". In all honesty in most cases most these things like EQ, HR. and other late century creations just seem like bureaucracy to best oddballs over the head with ( whereas before unless you were part of a minority group or did not keep your head down you were golden).
I don't know maybe I exaggerated, but I saw this as things changed progressively from 2008 to 20016 and beyond. Our society became more collectivist (and cared about group rights) while non trendy groups were relegated based off what people saw as a stereotype of our group (white male, etc.). . Further to add insult to injury the people who spout "equal rights" are the same people that would have beat you over the head for being awkward or whatever. Then people have the nerve to ask why we don't trust them or want to be on the "right side of history"?Maybe because the more we enter into this Borg like universe we head further towards 1984\ Brave New World. That does not mean this is a glaring endorsement of conservatives, but I do think rank and file are a bit more forgiving in some cases whereas the parties Sneed a hell of a lot of work.
What do you think?
