I'm six weeks into Community College and I'm hoping to get into University with good grades. So naturally I have been studying hard with my classes and shooting for the highest grades I can get.
Yesterday, we had a test in History, and our professor was running a bit late.So I sit down next to the door and asked one of my classmates if they were ready for the test, you know, friendly conversation.
"Nope," they answered.
I tried to think about something else to talk about. Instead, I decided to lighten the mood a bit. I said that maybe class would be canceled because our professor was running late.
A few people chuckled, but someone else decided to speak up. "Not like it matters for you. You're going to get a hundred anyways."
I tried to humble myself, that's what people do in these types of situations, right? "Me? No. I'm not smart."
The person who called me out shook her head, "yeah right, you've been answering every question during lecture."
What she said is true. I do answer practically every question in lecture. Mostly no one else would answer and I wanted to move things along.
"I'm sure you'll do well." I tried to make her feel better, I guess. Didn't really work out much, she just kind of blew it off.
I know it's a stupid thing to dwell on, but I obviously didn't handle the situation well since I'm writing about it right now. I am just kind of wondering on how you guys would have handled the situation. Would you guys have done something different?
