Before I am stoned by the prophets of scientism, I am not saying religion or tradition in and of itself is good or bad. However, as I was trying to put thosi to words, I realized the issue with scientism. It seems as though it seems us as an atomized organism (flesh ag) with no larger context. But if you look across cultures and time, you see symbolism that guides people back on the right path. In Western Countries this has been off kilter for a bit, but putting aside religions and the like, there are common experiences and id as which birth you into society properly. I will admit being on the spectrum some of these seem dumb, but it is how we evolved.
By grinding us down to only the rational, it grinds away at what makes us human. Further, while established ideas are really great, sometimes they are wrong, whether that be science, the church, or family or whatever. We should allow people to test ideas, even if it is outside orthodoxy, as it is what helps us advance as a species. So to say oh sir or mam , you are wrong, that may be the case. However. We should allow the marketplace of ideas and evolution to put people in their place if they are wrong. If we do not, we are hiding in our own Wittenberg Castle
