So a slightly older coworker asked me how often I think about the Roman Empire and I was thinking about once every week or two (on average). It seemed like the younger the people were, the more likely they were to say more (and it was more nale), whereas if the coworker was female or older (Gen X) was like never. My boss (who is males and went to a pretty good school for his masters) was like unless it was NatGeo or whatever, he did not really think about it.
The larger point I found beyond generational or gender/sex considerations was how the internal ethnography of NTs (even college educated ones) are on a different wavelength. In defense of my boss he does have kids, so that can skew things. But it makes me wonder how it is possible to find common ground. If you bring up even semi deep topics even family members tend to tune out (even if you are on the same team politically, religiously, socially, etc.). Idk it was eye opening.
