Not saying this is because of Asperger's, but I have noticed that between religious upbringing, politics of my family (conservative), and Asperger's, as well how people treat me, I think I have developed a siege mentality. In a way I can see the tie in between religion and Asperger's (both are very methodological in how they approach things, well at least in theory), but to some extent beyond the reinforcement from rude people, I think people of all stripe would agree we live in an era of decadence.
On one hand as a man thinks so is he. In other words some of this can be a self fulfilling prophecy (of people being shitty). I have been trying to be positive, but it is hard, especially when I have noticed an uptick in boundary pushing by strangers. So some of this is self inflicted.
But on the opposite end things as they currently are won't last. So when it seems like when people don't think and act based on animal instinct, it is hard not to see them as apes with rights even if that is a bit harsh.
So how to we engage the world realistically (not be an island unto ourselves), but also realize likely the world has degenerated, especially post COVID?
