I know many times when this gets brought up it is usually a Marxist/Feminist/Queer connotation on it. But I have been thinking much of our ethnography is the result of which religion we follow, what region we live in, to a lesser extent our careers, our gender, our sex, our race, incomes, etc. . While I do still think some of this influences those on the spectrum, I have realized when I analyze motivations and why people do what they do, in many cases (at least with many NTs), it is the result of Madison Avenue or Silicon Corridor. I think a lot of it comes down to preying on people's fears (perhaps MAGA is a case in point or some climate activists) or on their dreams (Televangelists) or security (the push for UBI). Once you deconstruct motivation and put silicon to marketing towards something, it is amazing how a good chunk of the populace just falls into somewhat clearcut demographics. Everything seems so black and white and uniform these days. In some cases it makes sense, but that is a discussion for another day.
My larger points in all this is when human behavior seems so mechanical, deterministic, and stereotyped, it makes trying to socialize or believe in larger ideas impossible (national unity , society, that most social movements seem more astroturfed than was lead on etc.). I get that society is real and what not, but it just seems unreal. To borrow an analogy, if hard society (reality) were a programming language, the post modern seems like object oriented programming.
To add on more final point, it does not seem like society was always this way. It seemed like people used to actually care about things. Even listening to debated from earlier eras (regardless of takes on things) seemed more thoughtful, even if you disagreed. Now everything seems like it was reduced down to a self help or cliff notes version of things. Also compare the reader books from the early American colonies and now and things seem so abstracted away.
Tldr: it seems like if you Deconstruct modern society, what you get is is abstraction of reality, not actual reality. Sorry for rambling but I have had this on my mind and have not created a more coherent theory on this.
