Why does it seem like everyone (including on here) likes so many restrictions on people, things, ideas, etc. ?
For instance, if we didn't have X law, we would have anarchy! And? Why is chaos so bad? Maybe I am in the minority, but chaos calms me. Do I want to get mugged? Hell no. But the frontier feels more soothing and egalitarian to me than than the every changing "laws" of society. Take for example, social interactions. Part of this could be to differences in culture, but in certain countries socializing is more straight forward. You can ask a question like what is you favorite book and people are not going to look at you like you are a door to door salesman. Whereas in a Western country people do look at you like you are a salesman.
So you think murder and theft should be legal? No. But interestingly, even though there are "laws" against these things, the clearance rate is 60% and 20 some odd% respectively. Laws don't do shit. Trying to control people makes them hate you. These are examples we can probably agree are universal norms. But even when you punish for these, it does not change shit, but it is a security blanket to make you feel like something was done about it. That is not very logical.
Instead why not create systems that address these issues instead of bitching about an issue. Systems, not rules, are what create stable societies and cultures, not moralizing.
