A few more quotes from Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon:
Lenaâs description of ShowCersei is fascinating:
âJoffrey is literally out of [Cerseiâs] control. She kept trying to be the soft, gentle mother with him, and he needed good slap. It was so painful for her that itâs such a big fuckup that the kid she loved so much was so out of hand and she has little to no control over him. Her honest state was fear, but it was covered by greed and pride. She was terrified of being found out by him.
âI loved it [in season 3] when she said, âIf it werenât for my children, Iâd have thrown myself from the highest window of the Red Keep.â That also told me that Jaime wasnât the love of her life and her children were. She felt terribly fucking guilty that theyâre from that union, and she even talked to Tyrion about that â like, âI fucked my brother, not I have kids, and itâs all going titsâup.â Cersei really wished she were born a man. Her children were her sanity, so the more they crumbled, the more she did.â
Some of the comments reflect her book counterpart, particularly the internalised misogyny. But the rest? Wtf. Lena did as she was asked and didnât read the books, so presumably that is what she got from the scripts and DnD - very much the caring mother lion rather than a case study in narcissistic personality disorder.
Also, Isaac on the consequences of King Bran:
I canât imagine his government is a barrel of laughs. It might be quite serious. And I guess for all intends and purposes, Westeros is a surveillance state, as Bran knows everything everybody is doing.
