Okay, I was gonna title this as Why did GRRM kill Jon but since spoilers aren't allowed on the title I improvised.
Alright, I mean why did he kill Jon anyway since its widely believed that he isn't going to stay dead in the books which is confirmed by the show?
I mean what was the point other than the shock factor. My thinking is that he might come back a changed man or something like as if a part of him is lost forever.
I get that that the whole events of the book are leading upto that point, him bringing the wildlings south of the wall, the pink letter which made him go want to go to Winterfell to rescue the person he thinks is Arya.
