Post Body

So this may be a bit presumptuous, and belive me I'd love to see the Mother of Dragons on the throne being a Targaryen loyalist. But given the way the show seems to be setting things up it does not look good for our dragon queen.

JUST A WARNING THIS WILL BE A LONG POST

Also would like to point out that I have only watched the show about 3 or 4 times and have only read through the books once (but will be doing again soon given my renewed interest) so please don't crucify me.

So I'll be touching on the two points (at least in my opinion) that are the reasons why I don't see Dany making it out alive of GoT (at least the TV show, books may play out differently. Explanation at th end) point one: Dany a villain? and point two: Azhor Ahai prophecy and the Jon/Dany relationship and her being betrayed for love

•Point one: Or as I like to call it "you either die the hero, or watch yourself become the villain"

Danearys hasn't always been the wisest ruler (but she is only 14 I believe in book one and what 16/17 by book 5 so let's try to cut a kid some slack) and I think most of us can agree her intentions have been good...most of the time.

Let's start off with one of her decisions that definitely had good intentions but because she didn't think things out ended up badly. That would be deciding to travel with all those slaves on top of her army not taking into account what it would take to care/feed for these people. As a result of this many of the slaves died from hunger/disease. Ultimately I feel we can chalk this up to her being young and optimistic, thousands of people died because of this choice. Another negative way to look at this is that she simply believed that what she was doing was right she felt so justified in this choice after all she had and was saving these people wasn't she? She was the breaker of chains, mother of dragons etc... how could she be wrong? Her choosing to travel with the slaves could be seen as something like vanity, by having them with her it was constant justification that what she was doing was right.

My next argument in this point (which book readers will get) is the part where the "rich woman" in Meeren comes asking for her house back as she fled it when the city was attacked, and it has now been taken over by whores and turned into a brothel. Danearys decision in this matter is that since the woman abandoned her home she gave up all rights to it, thus the whores could keep it. This is an ironic conclusion for her to come to (and this is where I ignite the wildfire) seeing as she has been displaced from her home (Westeros) which her family had fled due to war (Robert's rebellion) and she herself planned to lay claim on it again, but given her judgement call in the case of the "rich woman" wouldn't her own claim to the iron throne be nullified? Her family fled (just like the rich woman) and now the Baratheon/Lannisters ruled Westeros (the whores taking over the rich womans home) so hasn't she given up all rights to Westeros? Just as she stated the "rich woman" had given up her rights to her home by fleeing it?

Last argument for this point would be her attraction to Daario and her disinterest in Hizdar. Now to start Dany did state in the book that Hizdar was a handsome man, so her disinterest didn't have anything to do with looks. She states that she found his kisses "tepid". Basically there just wasn't any interest or spark there. Ironically though (given he may not be the most savory guy and the fact that he may have been involved with the harpys) he did represent piece and stability for Meeren.

Now we get to Daario, he would represent chaos and I guess a more tyrant way of doing things to a degree given his belief that Daenerys should just kill anyone who gets in her way.

So had two choices there (and let's leave love out of this for a second because rulers don't often get that privilege) Hizdar which would have brought peace and stability and although not the desired choice a decent one. And Daario chaos, freedom from inhibition. And she went more to Daario someone who I wouldn't say indorced but wasn't opposed to her more tryant like thoughts as her advisors may be (Jorah, Ser Bariston)

I'm just saying her intentions started out good but maybe now she has just become another tryant. What got me thinking this was when Sam asks Jon "would she give up her crown to save her people like you did?" And even though I'm a Dany fan when I thought about it even I found myself saying...no...she wouldn't...

I am fully prepared to get burned in wildfire for these opinions but that's what they are guys opinions try not to kill me for them 😂 as I've also said I'm hoping to see the Targaryens come out on top all of them

And there is definitely room for redemption in the TV show perhaps through Jon helping her find her more gentle and clear headed side as opposed to being all passion and fire (aka a dragon 😂) and in the books perhaps Jon as well or more likely I feel through Ser Bariston seeing as he is still with us in the world of the books. And this man served the mad king and has made it clear he ain't down to serve a mad queen. He also constantly tells Dany stories of Rhegar (the man he felt would have been the greatest king ever) and hopes she will take after him.

•Point 2: Betrayal for love and the forging of light bringer.

First off, let's remind everyone of Dany's Three Treasons Prophecy:

. . . three fires must you light . . . one for life and one for death and one to love . . . . . . three mounts must you ride . . . one to bed and one to dread and one to love . . . . . . three treasons will you know . . . once for blood and once for gold and once for love . . .

For this argument however let's just focus on and once for love remember this. It ties into the next part of my argument.

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s the prophecy regarding Azor Ahai:

There will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world. In this dread hour a warrior shall draw from the fire a burning sword. And that sword shall be Lightbringer, the Red Sword of Heroes, and he who clasps it shall be Azor Ahai come again, and the darkness shall flee before him.

Now, let’s go back and look at a quote from the books regarding the myth of the sword, “Lightbringer”, and Azor Ahai (the original forger of the sword):

To fight the darkness, Azor Ahai needed to forge a hero's sword. He labored for thirty days and thirty nights until it was done. However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke. He was not one to give up easily, so he started over. The second time he took fifty days and fifty nights to make the sword, even better than the first. To temper it this time, he captured a lion and drove the sword into its heart, but once more the steel shattered. The third time, with a heavy heart, for he knew before hand what he must do to finish the blade, he worked for a hundred days and nights until it was finished. This time, he called for his wife, Nissa Nissa, and asked her to bare her breast. He drove his sword into her breast, her soul combining with the steel of the sword, creating Lightbringer.

Now tying this in consider the "Danys Betrayals" prophecy. Dany will bed Jon Snow for love. Mount one to Love.

Dany will be betrayed by her love (Jon Snow) in order to reforge Lightbringer (obtaining the power to vanquish the others). This act also serves the part of the prophecy of lighting a fire for love (as per Nissa Nissa), since the fire of her heart will burn within the blade. Light a Fire AND Betrayal for Love.

I personally see this one as the way thing end up going for our young queen.

What do you think though??
