I believe trial by combat seems to be completely disproven as Tyrion's champion lost when he was innocent. This stuck out to me as it seems like GRRM is always making it so no element of superstition or religion is ever explicitly disproven. Of course that is easier to do with things like prophecy and curses, which could always be misinterpreted or self fulfilling than it is with trial by combat, which is pretty strictly binary.
Also, I feel like the Seven get the short end of the stick a lot of the time. All the other religions have supernatural powers and we don't see them being completely wrong ever (that I can think of). I could see this as being a medieval trope where the farther away places have strange and powerful forces etc, but is it meant to be more meaningful? Is it all just Catholic parallelism or do you think there will be a reason why the 7 seem so weak compared to all the other religions?
