I just finished ASOS Part II (first time reader, by the way, and I'm loving the books!) and I started thinking about Tyrion's motivation to kill Tywin. Do you think Tyrion was planning to do it as he was walking towards the Tower of the Hand or did he decide after he saw Shae in his bed? What was his specific trigger in your opinion?
I was surprised Tywin acted so arrogantly with a crossbow pointed at him - you'd think he'd be smarter than taunting Tyrion and calling him names when he had a weapon. I just thought it was a little out of character for Tywin to be so reckless when he knows Tyrion was emotional and angry.
