Usually I defend the changes that the show makes in adapting the material. Overall tonight's episode was strong, but I think we can all agree that the whole Yara/Ramsay confrontation was done poorly.
But in addition to some blatant "because of the plot" logic, the Iron Born scene really changes some future character interactions.
Now that Asha/Yara has seen Reek, she probably won't have the same reunion she has with him at the end of ADWD. In the books, see can't believe that Theon is her brother and it's a nice parallel to their first meeting at Pyke.
Now, this might have been harder to pull off on the show. Alfie still looks like himself, so it may have come across as unbelievable. But since she has seen Theon as Reek already, it seem certain to be cut out. Which is a shame because I felt like it was such a good character beat for Theon.
I'm just sort of bummed that we probably won't see it on HBO.
