I believe we are all looking forward to the glorious flashback of the Harrenhal Tourney, where the Wolves meet that mysterious little Crannogman we all are craving for. However I feel that cinematically flashbacks are a tricky, boring and overused expositional trope; yeah, GRRM may be able to write us a beautiful descriptive passage, but how would that translate on screen? would they have to hire different actors, or just make Sean Bean look younger? I had truly hoped that they would cut all flashbacks, and was happy that we didn't see the Tower of Dawn dream (sorry pleasedon'thateme ) however, that all changed with last weeks episode.
If you watch the series rather than being a pure bookaholic you would remember the beginning, where Bran is in a forest hunting the 3-eyed-raven and we get a sort of "flashback" to the archery training in Winterfell, Rob, Jon and Bran reunited and even a Mufasa-esque Ned speaking from the heavens. All of this slightly abstract, artsy and far more suggestive and magical than purely "seeing" it as it is, which I thought was far more interesting and thought provoking than the alternative.
So, I guess what I'm really trying to say is, how would this work for the three wolves and the small knight? assuming that they show this flashback and they keep the same format as Brans dream; and do you think it's be affective?
