Hi there! So Iām studying to become a sign language interpreter for Swedish sign language but if felt kinda awkward to ask my teachers about this so I wanted to post on here first to see if itās unthinkable I have quite a short name Amy. But itās kinda awkward to spell and difficult for a lot of deaf people as itās not a Swedish name. So my sign name became A.Y as it flowed better. And I didnāt mind so I took it.
Iām a dancer and dance teacher. I have a lot to do with preparing competition dances and such so my classmates and teacher see me dancing at almost every recess. One of my teachers one day said jokingly āyour sign name should be ādanceā instead because you always danceā. Since then Iāve kinda grown really fond of that idea.
Do you think it would be okay if I asked him if I can change to that? I havenāt dared to ask if Iām being honest
