Am I expecting too much? My relationship is moving too slow and it’s not making me happy.

Post Body

I[31F] have been with my partner [29M] for 7 months. To give you some context we have been good friends for 10 years. We live an hour and a half away from each other. I have my own place and he lives with his dad. I work and I’m in school, he’s currently in the steps of applying to school but has not worked since Covid began.

He has never stayed over at my place because it takes him a long time to get comfortable. I have slept at his. It bothers me so much he hasn’t slept at my place especially when I have my own space and it’s making me resent him a little. In addition to this, he lives with his dad and his dad has a throat infection so because of this my boyfriend has had to limit any social gatherings due to Covid and his dad being scared. Understandable, but I’ve offered so many measures to keep my boyfriend safe like getting rapid tests etc before he goes back home. Still nope.

My stepdad passed away suddenly a month ago and my boyfriend has been supportive by coming over a little and getting me food but I just didn’t feel like it’s enough, if anything I’m lonelier. His mother passed away 8 years ago and he’s mentioned before it’s why he’s a little on edge to sleep over at other peoples places but… I don’t know. I feel he needs to grow up.

I’m just unhappy and I’m worried I’m expecting too much. I want someone who sleeps over and can live a little bit. Is that too much to ask?
