Pretty much as the title says....if a trusted adult genuinely asked you how you feel about your gender when you were a kid, what would you have told them? And would your answer be the same as it is now?
EDIT: Many thanks to the folks who have responded. I'm realizing that this is very much a "modern" question and it makes sense to me that many kids in the '80s or '90s wouldn't have even known that there was another option besides being the gender they were assigned at birth. (The first memory that I have of talking about transgender identity wasn't until 2002!) Sorry if this question seemed weird or confusing -- conceptions of gender have changed pretty dramatically in the last 20 (or even 5!) years and so asking adults to reflect on their childhoods might not be all that relevant.
Context for the question, although I think it is an interesting discussion regardless of whether you wish to comment on my specific situation...
My kiddos are 7 and 9 years old. We talk about gender identity and every now and then I ask them if they are still comfortable with their pronouns or would like me to use something different, etc. So far, they have seemed pretty set on their AGAB's but I know it may change. I'm just curious as to whether I'm doing the right thing and whether there's anything else I can do to make them feel safe.
