Someone in my support group told me "I had to change my name at work eventually". Has anyone else been told this by another person?
Post Body

I work in customer service in the deep south. I've been misgendered even before I was female presenting and it never bothered me. I am also very used to being called the wrong name by parents and other family members. I've colloquially changed my name, but am not planning on legally changing my name. I'm not hiding at work, I wear makeup, my pads etc. I just haven't told anyone I'm trans at work. I work in customer service and many people I work have very strong conservative beliefs and are in tolerant towards anything different. I have no overlapping friends so there's no issue there. Every where else I use my true name. When I was in my support group last week and older Transwoman told me that "I will have to change my name eventually" she then went on a tirade about how I'll feel physical pain by hearing my birth name and etc. It really upset me and the moderator in the group didn't do anything. Is this a common thing or do some trans people not come out at work?
