Iām 1 year post-op ^__^ Since this group was so helpful to me as I was preparing for surgery & afterwards, I wanted to take a minute to share some of my lessons learned:
1- Your results are heavily dependent upon your surgeon ā While you may want it ānowā itās best to take your time & get the best surgeon for YOU (depends on your insurance, location, ability to travel, etc.). My surgeon was Bowers & while the wait was LONG, Iām ecstatic with my choice
2- My lube of choice = Surgilube. I get the box of 12 tubes off Amazon & have gone through 3.5 of those boxes in the last year.
3- Forget disposable bed-liners for dilating & get a baby changing pad instead. This will save you $ as you can just wipe it down & re-use it. Iāve used mine multiple times daily for a year now with zero issues.
4- Try to schedule a pelvic floor rehab therapist session for soon after your surgery. These positions are rarer & may take a while to get in to see, but will be invaluable in your early months post-op.
5- Find shows you want to binge watch & only allow yourself to watch them while dilating. This will help keep you coming back for your next sessions
6- The more time you can dedicate to dilating, the easier it gets. When I was sizing up, I watched half hour episode shows (22 minute run time) so I would watch 1 episode per dilator size. I watch an hour long show now (44 minute run time) as Iām only using the orange one now.
7- Donāt try to ONLY push your dilators in! Move them in and out slowly as this will help spread the lube relax the muscles. Once youāre at full depth, follow your surgeonās instructions on how long you need to hold it there to maintain depth. Moving it in & out again before sizing up will help relax those muscles, making it easier to size up.
8- Get someone you can vent to (friend, therapist, etc.) as sometimes keeping up with your dilating schedule is mentally exhausting for many reasons & this support structure is invaluable.
9- Routine/ritual to your dilation is helpful; however, donāt feel like you need to do it the same way every time!
10- Different positions can be helpful, so try laying flat or maybe pillows behind your back, or on your side, or whatever works for YOU.
11- Be Patient!!! Thereās no way to rush healing.
12- Orgasms take time to re-learn, so donāt overdo it too early as you may cause more damage ā Listen to your body & learn to re-connect with it
13- Constant ice is your best friendā¦ CBD gummies are nice too (got me off the narcotics fast, but thatās MEā¦ you do you).
14- U by Kotex ā Ultra thin pads were my favorite & youāll need them for a few months
15- Don't rush into sex... I personally have been physically ready for a bit & the opportunity has been present, but i haven't been mentally ready yet (keep blaming physical readiness) and that's OK! It's your body... treat your virginity with reverence lol
16- Remain diligent with your dilating and everything will get better over time. You'll eventually get to stop sizing up & just use the larger ones, but again, don't rush yourself!
17- Personal Bonus tip: If youāre a content creator on FnlyOans (intentionally spelled wrong), and are comfortable with sharing, the chasers are plentiful there. I have recovered almost all of my out of pocket expenses in the last year due to sharing progress reports.
Piercing side topic:
I'm a huge fan of piercings (if my name didn't give it away), so I really wanted to get my designer vagina some bling hahaha. Here's the problem: There's a lot of stories about rejection/migration/infection with post-op piercings, so I was afraid to ruin the hard work i've already put in.
How'd I get what I want without adding extra risks?
1- Look into a "Princess Dianna" as it's a pair of piercings flanking the clitoris vs. a vertical clit hood (VCH) piercing. This sits in more robust tissue and still gives all the benefits.
2- GO TO A PROFESSIONAL PIERCER!!!! Certified, experienced, clean, DOESN'T USE A PIERCING GUN.
3- Gotta keep it clean!
4- Only do one side at first to make sure it heals before doing the other side - less potential trauma for the body.
