I (mtf) work at two different hospitals, both large corporations with multiple sites. I transitioned at both hospitals a couple of months ago and it's gone really well. I've had my story put up on one hospital's website and now feel very comfortable sharing my story.
Recently my education coordinator at my other hospital contacted me and asked if it would be okay if they also shared my story. She explained that they were trying to be recognized as a progressive, inclusive company for lgbt folks. I told her of course. I want this visible to people. I want others to find comfort from my story. I want them to know they can talk to me. I want inexperienced people to know a trans person and see that I'm human.
But I'm curious what other people think of this. Has this happened to anybody else when you transitioned at your work? What are your feelings on that if it has? Or anybody else, what are your thoughts on that?
Thanks in advance!
