It was suggested that I post this here as I might get a better real discussion about it.
I will start with I am serious about a real conversation on this topic. I mean no disrespect in what I write below as I am honestly ignorant on the proper way to say things in this topic, but I do want to learn.
I recently spent some time with a person who is transition from female to male. This was before the stuff thatās going on currently. (she/?) is currently doing the hormone treatment phase and had questions about female with male sex and had never been with a man before but was curious to try it at least once before transitioning, and for some reason asked me. We chatted a lot, then met in person and talked more, and did have sex a few times. We still text today and I would consider (?) a friend now. I don't expect to have sex again btw, nor am i trying too.
I am an amateur writer and would like to include some of these terms in my writing and perhaps have the character explain it to someone who doesnāt understand, in an attempt to make the understanding better for the reader who may be like me and just not understand.
I know it gets old having to explain this to someone, I really understand that, but these words are only now becoming used more often. Think of it from my side, I have to go look up the definition when they are used, soā¦
he/she or something else? I have, today, found āZe / Hirā which are new to me and represent gender neutral pronouns.
On top of that there are new descriptive words such as sapiosexual, which from what I have read means attracted to intelligent people over looks. Why not just say āI am attracted to intelligence over looksā?
I guess from what I have read, I am a Cisgender - āCisgender, or just cis, is a term for a person whose gender identity corresponds with their biological sex assigned at birth.ā So, I canāt just say I am a guy, male, or a man anymore?
Anyways, I am unsure what gender pronoun to use in our conversations. (She/?) is understanding when I make mistakes. But I would like a serious conversation about this topic. I see many new words that describe oneās self and I donāt understand them and I expect others donāt as well.
Thanks
