So I recently accepted I am trans and one of the first things I tried to do is work on a more feminine voice. I tried quite a few YouTube tutorials but I don’t think any of them really worked that well for me. I think a major issue for me is I have a major insecurity about my voice already. Not necessarily that it is too masculine just that I don’t think it sounds…good I guess. When I was a kid I had speech therapy for a while to work on a speech impediment I had. I improved but I don’t think I ever got rid of it, there’s multiple instances I have to repeat myself to people and try to do it more slowly and clearly because they couldn’t understand what I said, sometimes I have to do it multiple times and just give up on the word they’re struggling to hear me say and find another option.
I feel like I can’t really work on a trans voice until I work on that insecurity of mine. It’s like a mental block of mine. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Would in person sessions be best for me?
