Did your music taste change as you transitioned?
Post Body

Trans girl. Been on HRT for 2 years and change. NSFW for horny R&B, lol.

I've been taking a look back at my music taste from before I started HRT, and it's a lot of electronic, alternative and pop. I was a big EDM head before I knew I was trans, so I stuck to that until I discovered pop music could actually be good and that Last Dinosaurs was awesome. The music was cool and kept me company most of the time, but I never felt like the music was all that connected to me. Sure, I loved listening to songs that meant a lot to me, but it wasn't like I could embody the music really.

Flash forward to this year, it's mostly horny R&B. For whatever reason, listening and singing along to music by other women about sexuality and issues related to womanhood makes me feel nice and validated as a girl. It also lines up coincidentally with my starting progresterone, which is weird. SZA has taken over my most played artist list, sitting pretty at #1 (with 3000 plays) and I literally have only been listening to her since May. I'm also black, and listening to black female artists is even more impactful to me now. I connect with their art a lot more than I used to.

Does anyone else have this experience?
