How should I approach without coming off as creepy?

So I like this dude..I only see him before first period.. I sit on one side of a caf table and he sits on the caf table that is next me.. I’ve admired him from afar but to not be creepy I’ve used my phone and the sun for it’s reflection capabilities and now I can admire him on my phone without being creepy.. but I wanna talk to him.. I have approached him and said that I liked his perfume.. even though my friend said it didn’t smell that good ( I disagree ).. i guess he has glanced at me two or three times.. but i don’t wanna get my hopes up.. I wanted to say that he was cute as he walks up and leaves because when the bell rings he passes by my table so I think I can say it.. but I fear rejection 😭like what if he doesn’t like me or find me cute enough and talk about it with his friends.. and his friends are in my English class.. I just need advice.. oh we’re both in grade 12

I just wanted to ask: 1. If u reject a girl, do you talk about it with ur friends? 2. How do I approach him with being weird? 3. What are some signs that he isn’t interested?
