Hello there, hope all you good Swiss folk are keeping well. Me and my ex are separated, for well over a year now, I’m fully committed to the divorce, but just haven’t been able to make it official on paper for a number of reasons.
She’s moved to Switzerland a few days ago after finding a job there and a few hours ago asked me for a copy of our marriage certificate for the Work permit B.
My question is this - does the work permit B actually require a marriage certificate? O is this some new manipulation? I find it extremely weird, since I don’t plan on moving to Switzerland at any point of time.
We have one child and she’s with me for now; my ex has chosen to leave our child behind to follow her career aspirations or whatever. While after this abandonment, I feel I’m no longer obligated either legally or morally to share custody with her, I’ve still committed to her we will leave the choice to my child in 2-3 years time if she wants to continue living with me or would feel more comfortable living with her mother.
Keeping all this in mind, her asking me for a copy of our marriage certificate smells quite fishy to me. Because even in a conservative society like the UAE where I currently live, you do not need the marriage certificate unless you’re planning on sponsoring your husband or your wife.
