Hello, everyone. I've been trying to figure out how to manage calls between the immigration and motor vehicle offices for a couple of days now, but no one can give me a concrete answer.
In a few days, I will send the documentation to obtain Permit B in Ticino; as I understand it, there is no defined time window to understand when I will actually get it, so I opted to receive the famous "substitute declaration" while waiting for the permit.
I should start working soon (a little over a month), and therefore, I am looking for a used car here and there, but I get the door slammed in my face as soon as I mention that I am waiting for (and will wait a few months) the B Permit.
Calling the motor vehicle office the first time, I was told, "No, without a permit, you cannot register a vehicle." Calling back 10 minutes later (with the suspicion that it was the same person on the other end), I was told, "You can register the vehicle with a provisional license plate depending on what is written on your substitute declaration."
Question: What should I do to move around for work? I could even ask to borrow a vehicle from acquaintances in Italy, but it seems absurd to be stuck in this limbo for the next few months.
If anyone has had a similar experience in the past, please let me know, even in private.
Thanks a lot.
